A red dot initially caught my eye as I approached a steel door in an industrial yard. Over the years it appears that solvents were sprayed upon a working surface and side of the building, resulting in abstract marks etched into the metal door. The steel was silver on silver, light and dark, matte and shiny. A hole in the door had been plugged with a wooden dowel painted red. Bits of rusted metal residue and scratches on the surfaces add to the painterly intrigue.
