I found a sheet of metal leaning against a wall in a railway maintenance yard, close to an area for repairing and painting boxcars.  I was immediately attracted to the scratched surface of the metal.  I believe the dark partial rings were created when a can with residual paint on the underneath was set down on the metal repeatedly, leaving the abstract impression of birds in flight.
